CAPITAL REGION WATER EXPANDS CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: HELP @ HOME
HARRISBURG (July 6, 2020): On July 1st, Capital Region Water launched the newest component in their recently redeveloped customer assistance program titled Help @ Home. The Credit Assistance Program is designed for low-income residential customers and those facing hardships to help reduce their monthly water/wastewater bills.
This component of the program is for residential customers whose income falls below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). The Credit Assistance Program provides an annual $200 credit to residential customers that meet the qualifying income guidelines.
To provide a quick turn-around in the approval process, Capital Region Water accepts award letters from customers qualifying for similar assistance programs (e.g., LIHEAP, SNAP, etc.) from the current year in which the application is submitted.
Capital Region Water will accept any of the following documents as proof of program eligibility:
- Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Award Letter
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Award Letter
- Pennsylvania Rent Rebate Program Award Letter
- UGI Assistance Program Confirmation
- PPL Electric Assistance Program Confirmation
If approved by Capital Region Water, the granted award will provide an eligible recipient with a total credit of $200 for use towards the customer’s drinking water and wastewater utilization charges, if billed jointly by Capital Region Water. This Credit Assistance will be applied annually to residential accounts that continue to meet the program eligibility requirements. Only one $200 credit will be applied per residential customer each year.

The Customer Service Center will remain closed to the public; however, beginning today, July 6, limited appointments may be considered upon request at the discretion of Capital Region Water.
